Somehow this summer feels like it is flying by and yet I never have a clue what day it is. Anyone else feeling the same? This week we took a little trip up to Michigan to visit family which is always so much fun. My mom’s garden is looking fantastic and we were even able to grab a few black raspberries before the birds ate them all.

It was a busy week here on the blog. I was lucky enough to kick off the blog tour for Paullett Golden’s new novel A Dash of Romance. I also joined the blog tour for Mimi Mathew’s new novella As Fair As A Star. There were a few other books that I snuck in over the last few weeks that I’m adding in too.

Victorian vibes were what I was aiming for with this delicate blouse. I love the touch of pink in the pants to make it feel even more feminine. Reading anything by Mimi Mathews always leaves me feeling inspired to add more Victorian touches into my outfits.

If you want to learn a little more about the history of House of Worth dresses in the Victorian era, check out my post here. It has some interesting links and a video.

These linen pants have been my go-to this summer. They are so lightweight and cool. I’m just not feeling shorts at the moment but this cropped length feels perfect even during these 90 degree days we have been having. Linen is such an amazing fabric!

Thank you to Lady Farmer for sending me their book! I really enjoyed the section on edible plants and slow fashion. It is fascinating to see how much the food industry has shaped our food cravings.

Speaking of cravings, is there anything better than fresh strawberries? A trip to Michigan is never complete without raiding my mom’s garden for whatever is ripe to pick. And she made me banana bread for my trip back! I’m still regretting that I didn’t sneak the loaf she made for my brother.

A visual interpretation and a playlist? Yep! You can check out all the fun we had on the blog tour for A Dash of Romance here.

I wasn’t kidding when I said these are my favorite pants this summer. Get ready to see them on repeat. This is another favorite blouse of mine from Doen. The clothing from Doen is definitely a splurge, but in my opinion well worth it for all the wear I will get out of each item. I’ve been lucky to find some amazing deals on Doen items on poshmark. I’ll share a post soon on all my secondhand shopping tips.

I did a quick reread of Bringing Down the Duke. This was Evie Dunmore’s debut novel and it is fantastic. If you want a romance that gives you that ache in your heart soul-mate feeling, this is a must-read.

This Doen dress is always on repeat. Did you notice it is time same fabric as my blouse?

Thank you for checking out another Frocks & Fiction. I would love to know what you have been wearing this summer. Are there any new clothing lines you’ve discovered recently? Any books you have been loving? I would love to hear all about it!

Happy Reading,

Melissa has been in love with books since she was a child. As a young girl, in her Holly Hobby decorated room, she would sit and tape scraps of paper to her books so that she could organize them by the Dewey Decimal System. She is a huge advocate for helping children learn to love reading. Along with hosting an online Regency based book club and a book club at her home, she started a book club for kids at her son’s school. These days, Melissa can be found at the library writing a book review or tucked in some quiet corner having a love affair with a newly discovered romance novel.
