The Bachelor Duke

Move over Mr. Darcy, there is a new moody man in town! Who can resist a man who thinks he doesn’t want to marry? Remington Warren is everything you want in a romantic hero. Grumpy, moody, resistant to love -falling in love with the heroine at first sight. Typically I’m not a fan of love-at-first-sight tropes, but Cecilia does a great job showing character growth that makes it seem believable. I really enjoyed this debut novel written by Cecilia Rene.

If there was ever a heroine I could identify with, it is Lady Olivia St. John. She loves to read and eat sweet. We are meant to be BFF’s! There are so many qualities about Olivia that I believe many readers will also be able to identify with.

With out giving away and spoilers there is one part at the end that strays from the typical romance ending. I found myself applauding Cecilia for stepping out of the norm. While there are a few plot points that could be tightened, overall this a fantastic debut. I look forward to reading the rest of this series!

Series: The Bachelor Series, Book 1
Genre: Historical Romance

The Bachelor Duke meets a beautiful, curvaceous lady.

Remington Warren, The Duke of Karrington, lives his life by the name society has thrust upon him. Having witnessed cruelty against the fairer sex with his own eyes, he vows never to marry to prevent himself from becoming like the monster who raised him. After ten years of being The Bachelor Duke, his life is irrevocably changed when he sees Lady Olivia St. John across the ballroom floor.

Having lived a sheltered, pampered life, surrounded by her loving family, Lady Olivia St. John longs to know passion and love. She is beautiful, bold, and has a rather large dowry. According to society, she would be a diamond in the first water of this season if it wasn’t for her one flaw.

Will she find all she longs for and more in the arms of The Bachelor Duke, or will heartbreak be her demise?

Melissa has been in love with books since she was a child. As a young girl, in her Holly Hobby decorated room, she would sit and tape scraps of paper to her books so that she could organize them by the Dewey Decimal System. She is a huge advocate for helping children learn to love reading. Along with hosting an online Regency based book club and a book club at her home, she started a book club for kids at her son’s school. These days, Melissa can be found at the library writing a book review or tucked in some quiet corner having a love affair with a newly discovered romance novel.
